Forden 7.5 mile Time Trial Result – 12th August

Near perfect conditions faced the 27 riders who took to the line in the latest round of the Hafren CC Time Trial Series at Forden. With warm weather and a gentle breeze, the night promised some fast times and we weren’t disappointed.

Bryn Davies posted the fastest time in the night. His 19 minutes 19 seconds is the fastest time on this course this year (although a slight change to start and finish points might have had a small bearing on that?) Coming in second place was Graham Harris, whose 19 minutes 44 seconds narrowly beat Pete Thomas by just 12 seconds.

The battle for the road bike title continues to be closely fought. This title goes to the rider who has used a road bike all year (i.e. no specific Time Trial equipment used all season) and Conrad Taylor (21:02) this week topped Andy Griffiths by just 1 second, despite Taylor being seriously balked at the finish by a slow moving tractor. Last years title holder Thomas Fränzel finished a further 54 seconds adrift.

In the ladies competition Rebecca Cook posted 22 minutes 34 seconds to beat guest rider Lucy Davies (24:06) and Sahrah Wilding (24:21). The ladies title is still wide open, so we look forward to the last two events of the season with eager anticipation to see who will be crowned champion for 2015.

Young Kallum Stait continues to fly the flag for our younger riders, yet again he performed well being timed at 27 minutes 48 seconds for the 7.5 mile undulating course.

The next event in the series will be the Newtown 12.5 mile time trial. Sign-on is at the Town Centre Car Park, Newtown from 6:15 to 6:45 pm with the first rider off at 7pm.
