Yep, that’s right – Free Cake

June 7th is Free Cake night, but not for everybody.  If you want to be included then you will need to be involved in making the club’s annual Open Time Trial happen.

For the last few years, Hafren has promoted an Open event in place of its evening TT.  These events raise the profile of the club and provide the opportunity to race against some of the best time trialists in the region.  The race is part of the Friction Hydraulics season long competition and it is another way we contribute to the programme of the Shropshire Cycling Clubs Association.  If you want to ride you need to enter in exactly the same way as any other Open event – details are on the CTT website.

Now to the interesting bit – free cake.  We need marshals on the course and we also need some help at the start and finish.  If you help, your money will be no good when it comes to cake – you’ll be expected to have it for free (unless you insist).

Jonathan and Laura Andrews have already volunteered to assist with signing on and to manage the results board.  We still need another person for sign on.  We also need a starter and two people for the finish, to assist the time keeper and to relay times and rider information to Headquarters.  The course is Berriew to Four Crosses (Llanymynech), so we will need marshals for four roundabouts.  We also need donations of charity cakes on the night and help with the apres-ride tea and coffee.

So, if you’re interested in helping please put yourself forward.  You can email me at chrisztaylor@gmx.co.uk.  YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!
