Newtown 12.5 mile Time Trial Result – 19th August

Stamping his authority on the 2015 Time Trial series, Ian Coe posted the fastest time in this weeks event held on the Newtown 12.5 mile course. Coe’s 30 minutes 00 seconds at an average of 25 mph was enough to beat winner of the last two rounds Bryn Davies by 49 seconds. Early season series leader Pete Thomas finished third a further 7 seconds in arrears. Graham Harris (the joint series leader on points with Thomas before this event) finished another 4 seconds back in 31:00. Just 11 seconds separated 2nd to 4th places which pretty much sums up how close this years series has been.

In the ladies competition Rebecca Cook posted the fastest time, which moves her into 2nd spot for 2015. Sahrah Wilding (who didn’t compete this week) has the ladies title nicely wrapped up, but the race for second couldn’t be closer with Louise Downward (away on holiday this week) still very much in the mix. Cook’s 34:17 beat second placed and new Hafren member Lucy Davies (37:12) by nearly 3 minutes, with Jackie Harris (38:58) and another new Hafren member Jacqui Loxam (39:30) placing 3rd and 4th.

Kallum Stait put in another fine ride to finish in 43:52, which pretty much seals the Schoolboy championship for this year.

Next week the last Wednesday evening event will be held on the 7.5 mile Forden course. Sign on is from 6:15 > 6:45 at Forden Community Centre, with the first rider off at 7pm.
