Welshpool 2-up 10 mile Time Trial Result – 5th August

25 riders braved the elements to take part in Round 8 of The Coaching Revolutions 2-up Time Trial Series held on the Welshpool 10 mile course.

The rain had held off for much of the day, but right on cue the heavens opened to ensure that riders got a thorough soaking on what became a challenging night for all competitors. A strong SSE wind ensured a quick outward leg, but that wind combined with driving rain ensured that the homeward leg was a real battle between rider and elements.

Fastest pairing on the night was Pete Thomas and Bryn Davies in 22 minutes 43 seconds, followed closely by their Hafren CC club mates Ian Coe and Graham Harris a further 12 seconds behind. Rounding out the podium were visiting Nova Raiders pairing Nick Pavard and Mark Harrison in 23 minutes 11 seconds.

Two ladies teams also took part with Louise Downward and Sahrah Wilding posting a fine 28 minutes 6 seconds to beat Emma Sargeant and Jackie Harris by 49 seconds.

Special thanks to Tony Brooks and his team of helpers (Neil Vose, Thomas Fränzel and Medwyn Jones) who also braved the elements to ensure another well run event in difficult conditions.

The next Hafren CC event is the Forden 7.5 mile Time Trial, with signing on from 6:15 – 6:45 pm at Forden Community Centre with the first rider scheduled to start at 7pm.
