Open Time Trials – Enter and Ride or Come and Help

Time Trials are an important part of the Club’s summer programme with the TT series and the County Competitions run by local clubs through the SCCA

Wednesday 6th June see the club host a 25 mile TT as part of the SCCA Friction and Hydraulics series. Hafren is riding high in this competition, currently third in Men’s and Top Club award and just off the podium in 4th in the Women’s competition.

If you’re not racing be part of the event and support your club

Going to race?

Keeping with tradition, race night is the first Wednesday in June (6th).  This is a highlight of the local TT season, on a popular and fast course.  So, if you’ll have racing legs by June, sign up now, The event has to be pre-entered and the deadline is fast approaching – 26th May

You can enter On line (this works best for the club as the event organizer has a lot of work to do other than shuffling paper entries)

But if you want to fill in a form you can down load CTT entry form – Type A May 2018 here or pick one up at the start if the next 2 Club TTs

Not Racing, but want to support the club?

Yes I can help – Click here

You may not want to ride, you might not even like Time Trials, but you could still help on the night. With over 120 adult members there should be plenty of help available, but please come forward early to give the event organizer, Chris Taylor, the opportunity to plan

We need help at the Start HQ, managing the sign on and results board.

 We need Marshals

We need help getting signs put out – safety comes first and witht e course starting in Berriew and traveling to Four Crosses before making the return there are a lot of junctions and traffic islands that need signs placing

With riders from all over Shropshire and Cheshire these are enjoyable events to get involved in

Please put your name forward to help

Event Organizer, Chris Taylor, says “Of course, races can’t happen without officials.  Hafren is well respected locally for its safe events, and we want to continue that tradition.  At the heart of safe racing on open public roads is the system of marshals, and we’ll need quite a few that night.  Louise Downward has offered to coordinate the marshals this year, so contact either her or me.  Please, we need your help.”

This year we are also promoting an end of season 10 – it’s been given championship status by the SCCA, so should be some fast riders.  As a 10 it’s open for younger riders too.  As with any Open, there’s no entry on the line; enter via the Cycling Time Trials website   One slightly confusing thing is that there are two events shown by CTT– one for Juniors and juveniles and one for adults.  Don’t be put off. On the night it will be run as one event, but it needs to be set up like that for prizes and winners.More on this in future Newsetters, but you an enter the event by clicking this link
