Yes. The club is run by volunteers and relies on members to help with ride leadership, event marshals, coaching, and community outreach. If you enjoy cycling and want to help, we encourage you to get involved.
Membership details and applications are available through the club’s Membership section on the website. You can sign up online or contact the membership officer for help.
Generally, new riders are welcome to try a couple of rides before joining, but membership is encouraged to fully participate in all activities and club programmes, as well as to gain insurance and benefits through British Cycling.
Hafren CC values community links by organising local cycle sport events, contributing to community partnerships, representing organisations like local town associations, and supporting charities such as Severn Hospice.
Yes. Members participate in club competitions such as our Time Trial series run under CTT regulations, and also race in open and association events across the region.
Yes. Hafren CC actively promotes women’s rides and events and has a junior cycling programme to support young riders. We also work with local schools and youth clubs to grow grassroots cycle sport opportunities
Club rides are held most Sundays throughout the year, with starts alternating between Newtown and Welshpool. These rides are social and structured to suit different ability groups. Everyone is encouraged to join and try a ride before committing to membership.
No. We run a range of rides designed for different abilities. Our Sunday club rides cater to social and group riders, and we welcome beginners and returning cyclists. Ride leaders help ensure everyone rides safely and enjoys the session.
Anyone with an interest in cycling is welcome. We have members of varying abilities, from social riders to competitive cyclists, juniors, adults, and riders new to group rides. Membership with the club gives access to organised rides, community events, competitions, and support from experienced riders.
Hafren CC is a not-for-profit Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) that promotes and supports a wide range of cycling activities in Mid Wales and the Marches. We organise club rides, competitive events, junior programmes, and community engagement activities for riders of all levels
