Max Gethin returned to action last Wednesday after a two week absence and once again showed his dominance in Hafren CC’s 12.5 mile Time Trial in Newtown. 24 riders in total took to the start line but no one could get near to Max who knocked 18 seconds off his last run over the same course finishing in a time of 30.29. This time was 45 seconds quicker than the ever impressive Graham Harris who had to settle for second on the night. He was pushed all the way by Paul Bufton who continued his recent good form to take the 3rd spot for the second week running in a time of 31.38. Carl Spencer and Bryn Davies also continued their battle at the top end of the field but this time they could not be split, both stopping the clock in 32.09 to take 4th.

With Max taking the top spot on the night, second place in the junior section went to Robbie Howells who managed to beat his previous time on the road by 27 second to show continued improvements. The ladies race has been closely contested all season with Julie Frost and Dian Paul heading the field. Unfortunately an ankle injury to Julie resulted in Diane taking the win by over 2 minutes but I’m sure this battle will be resurrected once both are firing on all cylinders again.

The Next Time Trial is on Wednesday 10th July where the series heads back over to Guilsfield for the 25 mile 2-up event. If you are wanting to attend and don’t have a racing partner, please contact Tony Brooks at Brooks Cycles for further information on 01938 553582
