Pearce Cycles Hopton Gravity Stages MTB race report
Hopton woods is a natural, rooty, technical mountain biking location, well known for its downhill tracks and cross country trails. About 200 riders were signed on, many riding the stages for the first time on race day, which were a mix of cross country, downhill trails, sections dug specially for the event & shortish forest road sections linking the trails.
Hafren CC members myself (Nathan Seymour), Conrad Taylor & Jamie Powell were signed on. Conrad did not have any opportunity to practice the stages due to injury. Former downhill World Champion Tracy Moseley was also racing. I came off the bike on stage 3 and landed hard on my shoulder. I got back on my bike and made it down keeping the rider who passed me in the crash in sight. I went onto complete stage 4. I’ve since discovered I fractured my humerus in that crash.
