Newtown 12.5 mile Time Trial Result – 17th June

A gusting wind was the order of the day for this weeks event, but certainly nowhere near as strong as it had been during the day. Rain however fell for the first time in this years series, so riders needed to take care on the corners as wet conditions and fast riding are not a good mix for any racing cyclist.

Returning to the scene of his previous series win two weeks previously, Ian Coe posted 30 minutes 34 seconds to take top spot on the night. Graham Harris came in nearly half a minute behind in 31mins 02secs with Bryn Davies a further 8 seconds adrift. Time Trial series leader Pete Thomas took a night off this week, but will surely be intent on reasserting his dominance in this years series when riders take on the Welshpool course next week!

In the ladies race Jackie Harris was back to winning ways after the previous weeks mechanic issues, finishing in 38 minutes 46 seconds. Emma Sargeant finished second just under a minute behind in 39mins 40secs, with Sahrah Wilding still tired after riding the Velothon Wales the previous Sunday rounding out the ladies podium in 42mins 09secs.

Next event in the series is a change from the originally planned Tombola 2-up 25.

Riders will now take on the Welshpool 10 course. Meeting point is the Flash Leisure Centre, Welshpool.

Sign-on is from 6:15 – 6:45 with first rider off at 7pm.
