Newtown 12.5 mile Time Trial Result – 29th July

Rain had threatened for much of the day, but the 28 riders that took to the line were fortunate to experience dry if not slightly chilly conditions. A strong wind on the outward leg promised a favourable tail wind back to Newtown via Caersws, but most riders reported that it was still tough coming home and many were slower than on previous outings. Coupled to this some resurfacing work soon after the start made for some ‘sketchy’ riding on some of the opening bends.

Winner on the night was Bryn Davies with a time of 31 minutes 5 seconds. This was Bryn’s first time trial series win this year and was enough to better fast improving Chris Roberts by just 11 seconds. Graham Harris completed the podium a further 7 seconds behind, meaning another close result with just 18 seconds separating the top 3 riders!

The ladies competition continues to be a real thriller. Top position this week went to Rebecca Cook who posted 34 minutes 44 seconds. Just a minute then separated the remaining 4 lady competitors. Second on the night was Emma Sarjeant (39:30), relegating Sahrah Wilding (39:32) into third place by the narrowest of margins. First timer Lucy Davies (39:54) and Louise Downward (40:31) placed fourth and fifth on the night.

Kallum Stait continued to be the only regular Schoolboy competitor, his 44 mins 4 sec securing another 9 points towards the 2015 time trial series.

Thanks to all who helped on the night, another safe and enjoyable events was experienced by all who took to the line.

The next event is next week and is a 2-up time trial on the Welshpool 10 course.

This is part of the season long Coaching Revolutions Series and is therefore a non-point scoring event towards the Hafren Time Trial Series. It is an enter on the line event and is open to all, but must be ridden in teams of 2.

Meeting place is the Flash Leisure Centre, Welshpool with sign-on from 6:15 > 6:45pm and the first team of 2 will start at 7pm.
