In weather conditions that were hot, but promised some fast times, 10 pairs took to the line in last week’s Hafren CC 2-up time trial.

2-up trials rely on riders working together as a team to achieve the fastest pace and there were some notable successes on the night.

A revised 19 mile course was used after Roadwork’s forced a shortening of the planned 25 route.

First pairing off on the night was the husband and wife team of Sharon & Tony Brooks. On what we believe was Sharon’s first outing of this kind she rode strongly, shadowing her ‘better half’ to record a time just over the hour, in 64mins 16secs.

Pre-race favourites on the night Max Gethin and Carl Spencer suffered bad luck as Gethin punctured cutting short their efforts before they had reached the half way point.

Fastest on the night were Mike Filek & Ian Coe in 46mins 05secs, but they were pushed all the way by Adam Owen & Keith Hughes who came a second, stopping the clock at 46mins 45secs.Owen & Hughes, however only narrowly beat 3rd placed pairing Paul Bufton & Rob Fisher by 1sec!!

In fact the first four teams were within less than a minute of each-other, a close nights racing indeed!

Next up is the 12.5 mile TT in Newtown on the 17th July
