Come as guests of Les Herbiers to ride a sportive and watch Hafren riders in the Chrono des Nations TT
Newtown is twinned with Les Herbiers, in the Vendee. Les Herbiers promotes a major Time Trial at the end of the season. This is a UCI event with some of the top professional riders in the word taking part. As part of the event there are also junior and open events and the club has been asked to submit riders for the event
We will be ably represented by Emma Serjeant (Womens TT) and Tyler Brennan (Junior Male TT). Aside from the TTs (on Sunday) the week long festival includes exhibitions, food and sportives, with 3 sportives being run on the Saturday before the race. The festival runs from 11th to 16th October. Sportives on 15th, TTs on the 16th
A number of club members are going to support the event and ride the sportives, if anyone is interested can you let me know as soon as possible. The club’s involvement in this is part of the Town Twining initiative and this means that accommodation can be found at no cost by staying with a host family. There is no obligation to reciprocate and the accommodation is as a guest of a French family. Language requirements are met, so if you have no French you would stay with an English speaker. The cost to you is a small gift (and perhaps a meal out with your hosts)
I’m sure you appreciate that this takes some organizing. We also need to consider travel arrangements as there are bikes and people to get there. We need some firm numbers to decide how to travel.
