On Sunday 11th December Hafren Youth Riders headed over to Manchester Velodrome to take part in Welsh Cycling’s North Wales Cluster Session. It was a chance to follow in the wheel tracks of their cycling heros such as Bradley Wiggins and Laura Kenny.

5 riders took to the boards, some for their first outing.  Whilst there were some nerves to start with, all of them quickly settled in and were all circling the track by the end of the session having grown in confidence and skill.

Track cycling is very different to the riding these youngsters are used to.  The bikes they were riding had fixed gears and no brakes, add to this the banked corners of the velodrome and the riders found themselves with a good challenge.  The youngsters did a great job of representing the club and by the end of the session it was obvious their riding had really improved.

The next session is on the 14th January, for 9-16 year contact Paul Bufton for more details.
