Hi All,
Earlier this year there was some talk about having a regular chaingang to practice some group riding skills ahead of what seems to be a strong interest in road racing and team time trials.
I spoke to Medwyn today and we decided that we would try and get this up and running on Thursday evenings, starting this Thursday 2nd May.
The proposal is that we will meet at The Flash in Welshpool at 6:30pm and for the first couple of weeks use the Welshpool by-pass to practice ‘through and off’ training before progressing to more challenging terrain over the coming weeks as we become more comfortable with the close riding and regular changeovers that this will involve.
This training is not about finding who is the fastest, or strongest, or best up hills it’s about getting a group moving at speed (probably 22-23mph to begin with, getting faster I’m sure as weΒ become more accomplished and fitter)Β and learning the skills needed when riding in a break in a road race or riding as part of a team time-trial or even in 2-up’s – of which we have 2 coming up in July and August.
Hope to see you next Thursday.
Fantastic, just what the Dr ordered π
Hurting just thinking about it.
Once the lads footy finishes for the summer I’ll be there
Working this week but next week is good for me. π
Excellent turnout for the first session π
Hope everyone enjoyed the first outing?
Tonight we did 38.5km (24.06 miles) at an average of 22.24mph, so pretty much bang on what was planned. But for a bit of a split on the third lap, we’d have been closer to 22.5mph.
8 people out and some pretty good skills already on display.
Next week – Smoother and faster still!! π
Smooth is fast … Fast is smooth … hmm i wonder where ive heard that before π
