On behalf of Hafren Cycling Club, I would just like to pass on our sympathy to Gordon and Tony Brooks and all the family to the sad news of the passing of Vera, or Gran as she was fondly know to all at the club.
She passed away peacefully yesterday morning after a long battle with illness and will be dearly missed.

This weeks club run in Newtown is cancelled.
However as a club, Hafren will be supporting Oswestry Paragon's reliability trial at Llanyblodwel.
Newtown group will be leaving Mcd's @ 8:00 and riding down to meet Welshpool group at the Flash @ 9:00.
Then riding down together ... Picking people up on route and this will be sorted on the day as required.

For the second year in succession Hafren C.C. have failed to attract enough entries to proceed with the planned LVRC promotion, which was due to take place on 18th May 2014.
At the time of writing we have secured just 31 entries across all age categories A to H, meaning that we were unable to provide a credible race in any of our 3 planned events.

The club ride on Sunday the 27th April is replaced with the Dolfor hill climb which kicks off the Hafren CC’s time trial series.
The 4 mile route starts just outside Newtown and steadily climbs the A483 until it reaches Dolfor. Everyone is welcome to attempt the challenge with the fastest rider taking the overall king of the mountains title!

Hafren CC today presented the Wales Air Ambulance with a cheque for £2,587.10 which was raised through fundraising events during 2013.
Members of the club raised over £5,500 in total for a number of worthy charities and for 2014 their chosen charity will be the Severn Hospice....
Sunday was the final round of the Welsh CX series which was held at Llandaff Campus in Cardiff. Having spent 4 years studying there it should have been home turf advantage. However it appears that the sports field was located beyond the campus bar and therefore this was my first visit.

12 members of the Hafren Cycling Club headed over to the Welsh Cyclo-cross championships being held at the Royal Welsh Showground in Llanelwedd last weekend and found the going difficult on a tough and technical course. A number of you have already expressed an interest in this event, so I have spoken to the organiser(s) of the LVRC Pinvin RR - 22nd/23rd March next year to confirm details etc.
This is the first Region 6 race of the year and is always oversubscribed which is why they are now running two events - Sat & Sun - so they can double the number of riders they can accommodate over the weekend.
