Filek & Coe perform equally as well in the pit lane as on the road!

Tuesday 2nd July saw the Hafren pairing of Mike Filek & Ian Coe strike again at the Mid Shropshire Wheelers 10 mile 2up TT in Westbury. A cool, dry evening boded well for a fast time, and a favorable outward breeze helped secure the boys 2nd place with a time of 24:09, shaving another 30 seconds off their previous 2up PB. This result is all the more remarkable given Mr. Coe's start line attempt at adjusting his set up on the new TT machine, shearin...

Hafren CC at the Shropshire Highland Challenge

Fathers' day saw the 22nd version of this event. A different route from the last few years, taking in the Burway, characterized by quiet Shropshire Lanes and plenty of climbs. The event organizers  (Wolverhampton Wheelers) calculate 6680 feet climbed on the relatively short 65 mile course - not much recovery time: the climbs were interspersed with lots of short sharp banks. The weather forecasters were mercifully completely wrong, with the promised high wi...

Hafren CC host round 8 of the Parker Series

Wednesday 12th June saw Hafren CC hold round 8 of the Parker International Series in Welshpool as part of its ongoing time trial season. Steve York of Wrekinsport CC was on fire once more following four rounds entered, four rounds won. A trip over the Welsh border for the Hafren CC 10 saw York take a clear victory in 22 minutes 7 seconds from a good field of 30 in less than ideal conditions. York commented: "I was very pleased with the win. It was s...

Mike Filek and Rob Fi...

Hafren CC host round 7 of the Friction and Hydraulic Services Shropshire Championship

The Hafren CC time trial series is well under way and after 4 races, the 30+ riders at every event are starting to eye up their rivals even before a pedal has be turned. Be it vying for a top 3 finish, the father and son rivalry or solely after bragging rights between mates, the competition is as strong as the friendship! This was all thrown out of the window last Wednesday night however when Hafren CC hosted round 7 of the Friction and Hydraulic Servi...

Aberystwyth Cycle Festival

Filek & Coe donned the red and white for the second Friday running to take part in the criterium racing dubbed “Pedal Power on the Prom”.  Bad weather had little effect on the huge crowds – the biggest seen in the Tour Series’ three-year tenure in the Welsh coastal resort, according to organisers – but forced the commissaries to amend the circuit. What an evil little circuit they devised to. It had it all - climbs, fast descents, tight twisting cor

Med takes on the Mid Shropshire Wheelers 50 mile time trial!

If it’s Sunday, it must be Prees, at least that is the way it feels.  After the Parker series 25 last week it is back again to the Raven Café for MSW’s 50.Being an Open event, I knew that my start time was going to be 7:57, so the alarm did not have to be set TOO early!! A very foggy / misty morning did mean that the start was, wisely, delayed by 1/ 2 hour and as I set off the 3 mile ride to the start, thoughts and doubts about my first 50TT kept going
