Tuesday 2nd July saw the Hafren pairing of Mike Filek & Ian Coe strike again at the Mid Shropshire Wheelers 10 mile 2up TT in Westbury.

A cool, dry evening boded well for a fast time, and a favorable outward breeze helped secure the boys 2nd place with a time of 24:09, shaving another 30 seconds off their previous 2up PB.

This result is all the more remarkable given Mr. Coe’s start line attempt at adjusting his set up on the new TT machine, shearing off a fixing bolt on the aero bars sending them back to the pits. As racing one handed was not considered a viable option, Filek & Coe scrounged around for suitable materials for a high class and, critically, quick bodge. Ian rejected the scrap rotting timber 4×2 Mike hastily scavenged from the nearest hedge bottom, in favor of the industrial sized 7mm allen key and half a roll of gaffer tape from Mike’s random collection of DIY leftovers. The improvised t5 bodge proved more than adequate to get the Hafren pair around the course in a good time and fortunately even withstood a late knock when Filek cut across Coe’s line within 20 meters of the finish, tyres clashed but both crossed the line without incident.

Mike&Ian2 Patent pending!
