FacebookAs you may be aware, the number of women who participate in cycling generally is much lower than the number of men. British Cycling and Welsh Cycling have recently started a number of initiatives to encourage more women onto their bikes and as a club, Hafren CC is keen to encourage female cyclists and provide opportunities for women to get on their bikes.

Over the past few weeks there have been some exciting changes within the club which we hope will have a positive effect on encouraging more local women to put on a pair of padded shorts and join our club. More importantly we hope to make some changes which will mean that you as a current female members of the club will feel supported whether your interest in cycling is for fun, fitness or competition.

We have made some changes to the Women’s section of the Hafren  CC website and also set up a Hafren Women’s Facebook page to provide information, news and discussion on all aspects of cycling and details of events. If you haven’t already please like our page at:

https://www.facebook.com/hafrenwomenscycling/?fref=ts&ref=br_tf

We have also set up a Facebook group for Hafren Women’s cycling. We hope that this will provide opportunities to connect and share information and news about women’s cycling and cycling events and be more interactive allowing everyone to post. The group will be open to all Hafren members and prospective members and the group will enable you to connect with like minded cyclists whether your interest in cycling is for fitness, social or to race and are interested in Women’s Cycling

The Facebook group is a closed group but just send a request to join. The group can be viewed here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1722620831317229/?ref=br_tf

We hope that you will be excited by what is happening and want to quite literally come along for the ride too as for any of these initiatives to be a success your input and feedback is crucial. Therefore, please feel free to contact me with any suggestions, ideas or feedback (good or bad) and hopefully together we can move women’s cycling in the area onwards and upwards.
