Wednesday night saw 30 riders head out on the 12.5 mile time trial route in Newtown looking to shave some precious seconds from their previous effort two weeks ago!

With a change to the format for the 2013 season, the same course is being used every other week to give riders the ability to track their progress as the season progresses. Max Gethin continued his great start to the season taking the win by almost 30 seconds over his nearest rival Medwyn Jones, who crossed the line in 31.13. Graham Harris also maintained his consistency with another impressive top 3 finish, only 20 seconds back.

Nothing could split the experience of David Gethin with the youth of Tomos Owen, with both stopping the clock on 32.54 to take the 4th spot. The result however was good enough for Tomos take the overall win in the junior section ahead of Morgan Hill and Chris Roberts who took the 2nd and 3rd spots respectively.

The ladies race also went down to the wire and in the end it was Diane Paul who just edged out Julie Frost, doing her first time trial, by a mere 4 seconds.

The series is really starting to hot up with less than 6 minutes between Paul Bufton who finished strongly in 6th and the ever improving Des Pugh in 27th.

With such strong competition, the next time trial in Welshpool on the 12th June should be eagerly anticipated.
