The penultimate ride in the 2016 TT series was held on the full course as the road works have now gone. Perfect racing conditions, with a light head wind on the outward leg that was enough to keep the threatened rain at bay. The expected tub wrecking hedge cuttings at Caersws had been well cleaned up, removing an anticipated hazard to riders and equipment

18 riders took the start line. The men’s race had a familiar look to the results with Bryn Davies taking stop place, (30:05) Pete Thomas (30:52) and Phil Thomas (30:54) took second and third, with Conrad Taylor continuing to chase hard for the podium, his 31:47 was good enough for fourth in a strong field

Louise Downward was once again top in the women’s race with an impressive 38:37. Sarah Wilding (39:57) and Kat Holwill (41:05) taking second and third with guest rider Emma Drew showing a very creditable 46:13 in her first TT

Phil Paul ensured the event was well run, with plenty of signs to warn other road users and also kept the times. Helped by Dane Paul, marshalled by Des Pugh and Mike Williams with Ashley Banks providing the cakes (proceeds to Severn Hospice) – thanks to all who ensured a safe, enjoyable and fiercely competitive evening’s racing, can’t do it without you guys
