Little Mountain TT – by Graham Harris

Described in Bikeradar as being one of the top 100 must do time trials I thought I'd have a go at it. An attempt last year was aborted on the morning of the race when there was a thunderstorm, gale force winds and flooding around the course. This year the weather was much better with sunshine and hardly any wind. Together with the other 110 competitors I took my place on the start line wearing, for the first time in a time trial, my new Hafren CC jers...

Chirk Sprint Tri

Paul Bufton and David Morris took on Chirk Triathlon last Sunday, along with 323 other athletes. Run by Wrecsam Tri this event always sells out quick and athletes have to be quick to get an entry. Following a 400m pool swim (the only flat part of the course) it was out for a 14mile ride on the out and back course. The road was rougher than a badger's backside and there was a head wind for the first 7miles.  After the turn around it was tail wind a...

Thursday Night Chaingang

Hi All, Earlier this year there was some talk about having a regular chaingang to practice some group riding skills ahead of what seems to be a strong interest in road racing and team time trials. I spoke to Medwyn today and we decided that we would try and get this up and running on Thursday evenings, starting this Thursday 2nd May. The proposal is that we will meet at The Flash in Welshpool at 6:30pm and for the first couple of weeks use the Wel...

Coe duo take on the Motion in Mercia

Ian and George Coe decided last minute to enter the ' M in M' as the Cheshire Cat which many of the club had trained hard for was postponed due to the snow. On arrival it was clear the bitter East wind had diminished though not that warm we decided shorts were the attire for the day (a good decision it proved) The event as always was to the usual high standard expected from Kilotogo. All routes very well marked etc. From the outset it was clear th...

Father and Son fly the flag for HCC

On Saturday the 30th March, Shrewsbury Sports Village was the venue for race 2 in the West Midlands Circuit Series which was being promoted by Wolverhampton Wheelers. Luke Grivell-Mellor of the Rapha Condor JLT team returned to his boyhood circuit to narrowly take the win in the main race ahead of James Locker in a sprint finish. Local interest however was in the category 4 race where the father and son rivalry of Ian and George Coe of the Newtown a...
