Newtown is twinned with Les Herbiers, in the Vendee. Les Herbiers promotes a major Time Trial at the end of the season. This is a UCI event with some of the top professional riders in the word taking part. As part of the event there are also junior and open events and the club has been asked to submit riders for the event

A cross headwind on the outbound stretch didn't help much on the return leg, but there were some fast times in round 12 of the club TT series. The Women's event was close on the night with Emma Serjeant (34:29) nicking it from Louise Downward by 11 seconds as these two battle it out for fastest Woman rider.

It was mightily close between the top two in Round 11 of the SB Sports Injuries Series with a single second ensuring the victory for Matt Gibbons in Wrekinsport's Gordon Davies 19. Held over two laps of the lumpy Shawbirch - Cotwall Bank circuit, Gibbons just edged out Series leader Bryn Davies with a fine effort of 42 minutes 39 seconds. 34 riders took to the grass track on a sunny Friday evening in Welshpool. It was great to see some new faces enjoying themselves with the regular riders. The junior racing was fast and frenetic and consisted of a flying lap, keirin and elimination race.
