Following a successful Cyclo-Cross event held in Newtown by Hafren Cycling Club, 6 of its team members headed over the border to compete in round 10 of the Waldrons West Midlands Cyclo Cross League, being held by Malvern CC. The course at Top Barn, Worcester was flat with very few obstacles or technical sections to test the riders like at the Trehafren Fields the weekend before but despite this the bitterly cold temperatures and sticky conditions made th...

Round 1 – Welsh Cyclo Cross League
Three Hafren boys made the trek down to Cwmbran to fly the red and white flag on the season opener, in three different age categories.
An interesting and challenging course was laid on by the promoting club Cardiff JIF at Llantarnam High School. Essentially the course was fast with technical sections through the wooded areas to navigate, complete with uphill run sections hence the name “Calf Burner”.

(Report from Dave Fletcher, SCCA)
The tightest Championship produced a typically tight race in the Hafren CC 10 with the fastest times of the Hawk Plant 2-Up Series coming at the last - and medal positions having to be separated on second count back. Nova Raiders pairing Richard Nickless and Ed Middleton took Gold with 74 points and by a fantastic 22 points margin after stopping the watch on 22 minutes 17 seconds in good conditions ...
Rob Finch's thoughts on what turned out to be a memorable day of cycling.......
Well, I entered this event back in March of this year during what was a really bad period of back pain, (due to a severely slipped disc - at the L5/S1 Level for those who like all the detail). I've cycled for 40+ years, but I really needed something to work towards and cycling (thankfully) had been recommended by the spinal specialist at Oswestry Orthopaedic Hospital as a su
Despite horrendous weather during the day and 4 riders heading off to compete in the SCCA Friction & Hydraulics Time Trial Series, a good turnout was had at the 11th race in the Hafren CC time trial series in Newtown for the 12.5 mile route. 14 riders chanced the weather and were treated to dry conditions with Graham Harris once again showing he is the man to beat taking the win in a time of 31.05. Paul Bufton continues his impressive form and consis...
Opening yet another chapter in Hafren's saga of sheared fixing bolts, at tonight's BC event in Shrewsbury, it was Coe Jr's turn to snap one, this time a seat post clamp. The Hafren boys turned to Dave Mellor, in their hour of need (10 minutes before the start), he generously loaned a rather shiny mountain bike quick release clamp which sufficed.
All four Hafren members (Max, George, Ian, and Mike) made it safely to the start line. The race started in ...
Sat Nav Needed... Hafren CC duo Coe & Filek turned in another good performance in the 2up series at Wrekinsport 10TT Wednesday evening, finishing 5th with a time of 23:40. Another mishap with fixing bolts resulted in Filek having to compete without aerobars on the fast course, putting additional pressure on Coe to sustain a blistering pace on the front in an attempt to preserve joint first in the overall standings.
