Hafren TT Series Round 2 – Welshpool 10 4th May

A fine May evening saw 31 riders take the start for the Welshpool 10. There was a noticeable tail wind on the outbound part if the course, which most rides reported being a tough headwind on the way back in, especially on the finishing straight that seemed much longer than usual. None of this stopped Bryn Davies setting a blistering 21:32 (new club record) to claim top spot and maximum points, pushing last week’s winner, Ian Nisbett into second, nearly 2 minutes down, with guest rider Chris Hill taking 3^rd with another sub 24-minute ride. A further 6 riders finished with 24s, making this a closely contested night for all placings.  Louise Downward grabbed maximum points in the Women’s race. In the juniors, Sam Holwill riding his first club 10, put in a very impressive 27:58.

A touch of wheels between Lucy Davies and Kallum Stait near the end of their efforts spoiled their chances, with both riders out, scuffed up by tarmac, but not broken (thankfully). Thanks to Steve Higgins for stopping to help at the scene.
