Wednesday night’s Time trial was also round 6 of the SB Sports Injuries Shropshire Championship 50 series and saw 47 riders take the start on this popular, fast 10.

Near perfect conditions, the cross winds adding to the challenge, produced great rides

Rebecca Richardson led home the Women’s field with an impressive 23:33, taking 8th overall on the night (tied with Chris Hill – MSW) and taking 1st in the Hafren Women’s event. The other podium places were hotly contested between second place Louise Downward, 28:28, pipping Emma Sarjeant, who took third with 28:33, by 5 seconds. With a total of 10 women taking the field, the other Hafren riders put in strong performances. Kat Holwill, in her first season, rode an impressive 30:48 and Diane Paul posted a PB of 32:05, good riding in an unhelpful cross wind for early starters on this open and exposed course

The Men’s event was also taken by a Hafren Rider. Bryn Davies (21:55) was the only rider on the night to get under 22 minutes, beating Bridgnorth CC’s Tim Beardmore to second by 38 seconds (22:33)

Pete Thomas (22:51) and Ian Coe (23:09) completed the Hafren event podium, finishing 4th and 5th overall on the night with only Beardmore and Gary Duncan (Paramount) splitting the Hafren riders on the night

A strong showing on the night from the club. Thanks to Thomas Fraenzel, Ashley Banks and Tony Brooks for time keeping and marshalling (Good job guys) and Bryn Davies who provided the cakes (proceeds to Severn Hospice) thanks Bryn.

The offical SB series report and results will be posted as soon as we have them
