Hafren Success at Montgomeryshire Sports Awards

The annual Sports Awards are a way of recognizing and celebrating the sporting success of sporting individuals and those involved in sport at all levels.

Hafren was nominated for Cub of the year, with Chris Roberts (senior) and Sam Holwill (junior) being nominated as Sports Personality and both winning third in their individual categories, Well done guys.

The criteria for Club of the year closely matches Hafren CC’s ethos of promoting and encouraging  cycle sport and all and the efforts from members and volunteers to promote junior and women’s cycling and build strong community links.

Winning this award for the second year in succession is an accolade for all club members and especially for the large team of volunteers who work to promote the club and its many and varied activities.

Given how disparate a Cycling Club is compared to most sports clubs, with no “home ground” or “club house”, winning this coveted award is not easy, Doing show reflects the cohesiveness of the club and the commitment of volunteers and the membership to run a successful and effective club, delivering on and off the bike.

To qualify for this award the

  • Club must be making a substantial contribution to the local community and must be actively linked to their local schools.
  • Club must be soundly governed and affiliated to their National Governing Body (NGB).
