Welshpool 10 Mile Time Trial Result – 6th May 2015

The wind had been gusting  combined with driving rain and with safety in mind discussions had rumbled on all day as to whether the event would go ahead or not, but as the evening neared the roads started to dry up and the wind dropped slightly to allow 21 riders to take to the start line.

Fastest on the night by almost 3 minutes was guest rider Josh Williams who is on scintillating form following a fine win in a national series event the weekend before. Josh ignored the challenging conditions and posted a 30 mph ave ride, finishing in 19 mins 57 secs

Fastest Hafren rider was Pete Thomas who is also showing great early season speed, having already posted a 22 minute ride in the previous weeks Mid-Shropshire Wheelers event. Pete’s 23 mins 52 secs beat 2014 Hafren Champion, Medwyn Jones by 3 seconds. A further 30 seconds behind Paul Bufton posted 24 mins 34 secs, just ahead of Graham Harris in 24 mins 39 secs.

In a reversal of fortunes from the previous weeks result Sahrah Wilding topped the ladies result with 31 mins 26 secs to beat Sharon Brooks (32 min 48 sec) by over a minute.

Thanks to the marshals, time keepers and all other helpers who as always continue to provide safe and well organised racing in the clubs name!!

Next weeks event is the Newtown 12.5 miler, which starts at 7:00pm with sign-on from 6:15 – 6:45pm at the Town Centre Car Park, Newtown.
