On a cool and breezy evening 32 riders rocked up to ride the first of the Newtown evening events.
The Newtown course is described as a ‘sporting course’ and has a good mix of undulations early on, topped off with what is usually a fast finish back to Newtown, so suits all-round riders and not just time trial specialists.
Pete Thomas kept his early season form to again be top Hafren rider on the night, posting an impressive 30 minutes 23 seconds, on what were described as less than ideal conditions. 20 year old Chris Roberts finished just 15 seconds slower (30 mins 38 secs) to secure second place, whilst Medwyn Jones rounded out the podium positions in 30 minutes 46 seconds.
The ladies competition saw the reigning champion Jackie Harris opened up her 2015 account, coming home in 38 minutes 48 seconds to beat time trial debutante Emma Sarjeant by just over a minute. The ladies competition looks like it could be a real thriller this season with more and more riders giving it a go!!

Hafren’s next club event is the Welshpool 10 mile T.T. on 20th May. Meeting t the Flash Leisure Centre with sign-on from 6:15pm – 6:45pm. First rider off at 7:00pm.

EARLY REMINDER – the Welshpool 10 on 3rd June is an Open event, this must be pre-entered through the CTT website, entries must be in ideally 2 weeks prior to the event – closing date is officially 23rd May 2015. REMEMBER ENTRIES WILL NOT BE TAKEN ON THE NIGHT!!
