Hafren CC Hill Climb – Round 5 SCCA Hill Climb Series

The penultimate ride in the 2016 TT series was held on the full course as the road works have now gone. Perfect racing conditions, with a light head wind on the outward leg that was enough to keep the threatened rain at bay. The expected tub wrecking hedge cuttings at Caersws had been well cleaned up, removing an anticipated hazard to riders and equipment 18 riders took the start line. A warm, muggy night with a light cross wind made for fine, if tough, racing conditions for the 21 riders who took to the Welshpool 10 on Wednesday Lucy Davies, in a rare appearance this year in the club series, showed that her 2 up time trials have paid dividends, posting 25:42 to take top spot in the Women’s race and joint 10th overall. Great racing conditions with a warm, dry and still night, saw a smaller than normal field as many regular competitors were on holiday. A great evening for racing saw 23 riders tackle the popular Berriew – Four Crosses 25 mile course Fastest on the night was Men’s winner Bryn Davies whose 56:29 saw him top the table again for the 8th time in 8 outings in this year’s series.
